London in 2012

The staging of a large-scale event - such as the Olympics and Paralympics - inevitably gives rise to certain safety and security concerns relating to event locations as well as competitors, supporters and the general public.

Newrisk Limited and its advisers have previously advised on olympics issues including infrastructure security planning (notably, the Sydney Airport Rail Line prior to the olympics in Sydney in 2000), security assessments for organisations and employee preparedness workshops.

  • TEG7
  • Cyber Threats

In response to the Paris & Brussels terror attacks, Newrisk Ltd became a founder member of The Exercise Group7 LLP (TEG7) which is a dynamic team drawn from cyber & former special defence fields to exercise organisations & governments on emerging terror and cyber threats.  The TEG7 profile can be seen at www.teg7.co.uk. The Manchester Arena suicide bombing in May 2017 highlights a new military style of terrorism from ISIS with a greater potential to attack the public & security personnel in many countries.  TEG7 integrates physical & cyber security for corporate exercises to protect against terror & cyber-attacks.

Delta & British Airways have suffered a world-wide loss of aviation business systems as a result of computer system outages.  Newrisk Limited - as part of The Exercise Group7 LLP - conducts exercises in integrated cyber & physical security transformation for companies & governments.  Cyber threats are becoming more serious for critical infrastructure & require new principles in management & exercises of personnel to pre-empt crises. Degraded operations will become a fall-back if persistent attacks continue to exploit vulnerabilities & use ransomware or nation state motivated attacks. The Ukraine power grid attacks are a key lesson for infrastructure protection. Aviation remains the industry ‘canary’ for cyber failures.
